Two simultaneous video links playing at the same time on that previous post-gone-bad. Sorry to all who tried to figure it out. Silly computer. Silly me.
But here's something exciting! I bought a new book called "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards, which is endorsed by Jodi Picoult AND Sue Monk Kidd! Two of my favourite writers; if I can't trust them, who can I trust?
I feel so hopeful and giddy just before I start a new book. I've even prolonged starting it, just so the feeling would last. Ah, let's hear it for delayed gratification and all the dysfunction that surrounds it.
how embarrassing.

i JUST saw that one in chapters today. i thought the title seemed a little dorky though.
let me know.
I concede, the title is dorky. But the story sounded really good, nay, even heart-wrenching. And I'm a glutton lately for the heart-wrenching. I love a good cry. And, I was sucked in by the other author's endorsements in a big way.
Oh! A good book that I just finished, on loan from Shannon, is "The Kite Runner." I found it fascinating (set mostly in Afganistan) and, yes, heart-wrenching. A very good read.
Aaaand, also on loan from Shannon, is Jodi Picoult's "The Pact." Loved it. Couldn't put it down. Maybe it was just time for a Jodi Picoult fix.
i haven't read any of ms. p. yet. i really should. i don't think i've disagreed with either you or shannon about a book, yet.
i just bought, "The Book of Lost Things" (i think that's what it's called). it sounds pretty fantastic/heart-wrenching.
hey! if you want heart-wrenching you gotta read some jonathan safron foyer. mmmmmmm.... i'll lend him to you.
oh! and i'm just starting a book club with some smart ass ladies from church. you should come. pinky swear, no church talk. it's at my house, so i can always kick them out if they do.
and one more thing...
i've really been enjoying reading about you, and the boys and your day to day stuff. it makes me happy.
Oooooh! A book club!! Be still my heart!! A chance to (1) get out of the house without kids; (2) embrace something I love to do; (3) be in a social setting that doesn't have to deal directly with kids; and (4) actually use my brain? SIGN ME UP! I'd love to come to your book club. : )
And thanks for telling me you like to read about me. : ) That gives me warm feelings to know someone out there is reading and caring. : )
This is me pouting that I can't join the book club.
Woe. Deep woe. :(
it's only once a month, on a sunday night, shan...how long of a drive is it, really?
oh, and just to sweeten the pot a little - karen might come too!
Ya, Shan? How long of a drive is it? Eh? Eh? Really? : )
